When sharing a post to Facebook you may sometimes get an error: User opted out of platform: The action attempted is disallowed, because the user has opted out of Facebook platform.
This happens when you've turned off a feature in Facebook. If this just changed even though you didn't update your preferences, it might be because Facebook added an app to this list. Here's how to get it working again!
On Desktop
- Click ▾ in the top right corner
- Click Settings, then click Settings & Privacy
- Under Settings & Privacy, go to Apps and Websites on the left-hand side
- Under Preferences find Apps, websites and games
- Click Turn On if the feature is turned off.
You should now be able to share your link to your Facebook account
On Mobile
- Click the three lines at the bottom right
- Click Settings & Privacy
- Click Settings
- Scroll down and click Apps and Websites
- Click Edit next to Apps, Websites and Games
- Click Turn On
You should now be able to share your link to your Facebook account
